Hanseatic Science Cloud Workshops

Dec 3, 2025

On 4 and 20 November, the HALRIC WP3 Hanseatic Science Cloud (HSC) team, together with HALRIC Ambassador Emanuel Larsson, held two online workshops with invited researchers from Lund University, MAX IV, Oslo University, SciLifeLab, and DESY Hamburg.

Both sessions combined gathered around 15 participants to allow detailed discussion and feedback on the Hanseatic Science Cloud (HSC) portal prototype, a digital platform designed to make scientific data analysis faster, more collaborative, and more efficient across institutions and disciplines.

Testing the HSC portal

During the workshops, participants tested the portal’s usability and features by uploading their own data, running analyses, and exploring the applications available through the platform. The sessions generated valuable insights into the portal’s current capabilities and helped identify key areas for improvement, especially in file management and interactive tools.

The HSC team demonstrated a collaborative and user-centred approach, responding directly to participant input and encouraging continued testing. Feedback also confirmed the portal’s potential to support a wide range of scientific workflows, from Graphic User Interface (GUI) applications to interactive data visualization.

Next steps and invitation to join

The experiences and suggestions collected from the workshops will feed into the final HALRIC project report to be submitted to Interreg. Early impressions indicate that the portal’s prototype is already highly user-friendly, providing an enjoyable and intuitive environment for data analysis.

The HSC team now invites more researchers to become HSC testers. By joining upcoming workshops and sharing feedback, researchers can help shape the next generation of user-friendly cloud solutions for academic institutions.
